to the Gunnison River Starting Point (map)
Driving time from Denver is about 4 1/2 hours
Take I-70 to Grand Junction. Get of at Exit 37at Clifton.
Take Business 70 to Hwy 141 south, about 1 1/2 mile off
the exit, and look for the Wendy’s. Turn Left onto
Hwy 141 and go 7 miles until you come to the road’s
end, which connects with HWY 50. Turn Left onto Hwy 50 and
go about 23 miles, looking for mile marker 59. Just past
the mile marker 59 is a roadside park, turn right and follow
the dirt road about 3 miles. The sign says Escalante Canyon,
3 miles. You will see the river and railroad tracks before
the bridge. This year you can’t camp next to the water,
but there is camping up the road before the tracks.
Directions to the Colorado River Starting Point
Driving time from Denver is about 4 1/2 hours
Take I-70 past Grand Junction to Fruita. Get off on Exit
19. Turn left and go about a mile to Rim Rock Ranch. Turn
before the main gate at the employee entrance and follow
the road to the river. Look for the canoes and the river.

Tips:
* To avoid confusion write your name in permanent
marker on your chair.
* You may want to bring trash bags to wrap any
items that absolutely can't get wet.
* Bring some colorful bandanas or plastic newspaper
bags to tie to your dry bag. This will help you
locate YOUR dry bag after the canoes have been
unloaded.

NOTE: PLEASE PACK AS LIGHTLY AS YOU CAN!
What you bring with you must be tied
into the center of your canoe along with group food, water
and equipment boxes. Due to the possibilities of afternoon
thunder-showers, please remember to bring your rain gear.
We suggest a small day pack to keep separate from you main
pack while in your canoe. This will hold items you may need
during the day, such as sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses,
chap stick and drinking water. Be sure to put your car keys
somewhere safe.
Because of liability and obvious health
hazards to you and the group, while paddling on the river
(including lunch) consumption of alcoholic beverages and/or
any controlled substances besides prescribed medication
is strictly prohibited.

gear for all other needs. A general list of what
we do supply includes:

What if I have special diet needs? |
A: |
We supply all of the meals,
beginning with the Friday morning breakfast through
lunch of our last day. Please contact us in advance
if you have a special dietary concern or need; we
will be happy to work it into the meals. Also, please
feel free to bring along extra snacks and drinks,
although the meals are always quite filling.
You provide the Alcohol.
We cater to vegetarians! Let us
know your special needs. |

Do you provide transportation for customers? |

No. All customers will either
need to use their own vehicles or carpools. (We
can provide numbers and contacts to facilitate this.)
We carpool, shuttling your vehicles to the take-out
on Friday morning, so your car will be waiting at
the end of the trip on Sunday afternoon. |

We bring bottled water for
drinking and washing - one gallon per person per
day. You can bring your own purified water
if you like. (pack in personal small cooler) |

Since most of our trips
are near the "HUB" of Grand Junction, Colorado,
you can reserve a motel in Clifton or Delta, or
join us by the river for car camping the night before
the trip. There are toilets, but no shower facilities.
