Colorado's Best River Runs

Water Fall

Gunnison River

Novice/Intermediate - Just south of Grand Junction, Colorado, the mighty Gunnison River. We start at Escalante Canyon and travel 27 miles to Whitewater. The journey begins at a petroglyph site within the heavily dinosaur fossilized Morrison Formation. We encounter the thrilling "Hail Mary" rapid (class I-II, optional) the first day. We visit the "Eighth Wonder of the World", Dominguez Canyon, a deep red sandstone side canyon. A short hike takes you to petroglyph/pictograph sites and a secluded warm natural swimming pool fed by a forty foot waterfall.(video) Along the way you may see desert bighorn sheep, hawks, deer and brightly colored geckos. - Three Day Trip

All trip are permited through the BLM, licensed and insured.

White Water White River

Intermediate - This remote 50 mile section of the White River runs west from Rangley, Colorado, 44 miles into Utah. The dynamic stretch features two very different canyon formations from deep colorful passages to a meandering waterway with “cartoon like” sandstone spires. Pronghorn antelope, eagles, deer, beaver, and even moose have been spotted along the river banks. Typically the water difficulty is Class 1-2 rapids. Be one of the few to experience the secluded and pristine canyons of the White River Three Day Trips.

Dolores RiverDolores River
Advanced - About 45minutes driving time southwest of Grand Junction, Colorado, this40 mile stretch of deep, narrow canyon contains several rapids (up to Class III) between sections of quiet water. Outlaws like Butch Cassidy and the Hole in the Wall Gang hid out in this particular canyon of the Dolores. Fourteen hundred feet above the river, you will see a century old wooden flume hanging from the canyon wall. The area is rich in minerals such as gold, silver, iron, lead, salt and uranium. Historically mining has shaped the economy of the surrounding towns. The deep red sandstone formations make for surreal sunrises and sunsets. - Three Day Trip

Awsome FunColorado River

Just west of Grand Junction, Colorado, long passages of red sandstone canyons are dominant features of this expedition. We travel 27 miles through Horse Thief and Ruby Canyons with a visit to Black Rocks. Here the landscape reveals over two billion year old black metamorphic rock below the contrasting red sandstone a young 300 millions years old. We visit an acoustically perfect and spiritually energized amphitheater featuring a pictograph and petroglyph. Nestled between the rocks and along the water are tantalizing sandy beaches. A hike up to the plateau atop the canyon provides a breathtaking view into Utah. THESES TRIPS ARE OUTFITTED by Rim Rock Ranch.
